Silk Road International Cooperation Conference for Industry-University-Research and International Industry-University-Research Symposium on Plateau Eco-environmental Protection and High-quality Development of Yellow River Basin-Agricultural Eco-environmental Protection and High-quality Development Sub-forum was held in our university on October 30th. Experts, scholars and graduate students from China, Brazil, the United States, Serbia, Pakistan, Sweden, the Netherlands and other countries attended the meeting online and offline to discuss the latest research achievements in soil carbon and nitrogen cycle, agricultural solid waste resource utilization and agricultural ecological environment management.
Prof. Wu Pute, President of Northwest A&F University, Liu Baoping, Deputy Director of Education Department of Shaanxi Province, Prof. Tkachuk Vadym, Vice President of Ukrainian National University of Biological Resources and Natural Resources Rational Utilization, Prof. James M. Tiedje, academician of American Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Kadambot Siddique, academician of Australian Academy of Technical Sciences and Engineering, winner of Chinese Government Friendship Award, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony by videos.
In his speech, President Wu Pute said that NWAFU has always aimed at the forefront of international science and technology, closely followed the national strategic needs and regional development needs, and follow the road of running schools in Industry-University-Research with the characteristics of close integration. This conference will give full play to the advantages of talents, disciplines and scientific research of universities at home and abroad, strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, and promote joint work in key areas, major projects, scientific and technological research and personnel training, so as to help the high-quality development of regional economy and society.
Deputy Director Liu Baoping praised that Northwest A&F University has always taken the indomitable spirit and the site as the university's scientific research development policy, and made outstanding contributions to the ecological construction of China's Loess Plateau, helping Shaanxi's “green map” to move 400 kilometers to the north. He hopes that the university will strengthen wider cooperation with countries and enterprises along the Silk Road in the future, hire more high-level joint supervisors, and promote scientific and technological education cooperation with countries along the Silk Road.
Prof. James M. Tiedje, an academician of the American Academy of Sciences, believes that international communication is particularly important for the protection of agricultural ecological environment and sustainable development all over the world. This forum will provide a platform for domestic and foreign scholars attending the conference to communicate and seek common countermeasures for the sustainable development of agriculture in the Yellow River Basin and other countries.
The theme of this forum is "Agricultural Ecological Environment Protection and High-quality Development". Experts at home and abroad use online and offline forms to conduct academic discussions in the cloud through the network platform. Experts have conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on covering crops and sustainable agricultural development, the application of new technologies in the research and management of soil organic matter, the application of geographic information technology in the analysis of agricultural slopes in the Loess Plateau, and the impact of human activities on soil physical and chemical properties and agricultural ecological environment.
The Silk Road International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference is dedicated to implementing and promoting the results of the visit of Chinese Minister of Education to Belarus, Russia and Ukraine in 2017, creating opportunities and building platforms for countries to complement each other's advantages. It is a concrete measure to implement the strategic consensus reached between China and many countries in the field of education, achieving value creation and sharing through practical projects, which is of great significance to talent cultivation and exchanges and cooperation in the field of education among many countries. In 2020, the International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference was held for the first time in Xi 'an, Shaanxi Province, and will be held here once a year thereafter.
